On May 9, 2005 Guangdong Telecom -- a branch company of China Telecom -- selected Alcatel Shanghai Bell to help it expand and optimize its networks in urban areas in order to effectively develop its IP data business. Guangdong Telecom will deploy Alcatel 7750 routers in seven major Chinese cities, including Dongguan, Foshan, Zhongshan, Zhuhai, Huizhou, Jiangmen and Shantou. This project is expected to be completed in June 2005.
